Simply the best editor, period. Been using it for years and it's always "just worked".

I have a rocketfish USB microphone which is supposed to recognize any OS Win5+ automatically. Goldwave instantly recognizes my microphone. I normally talk in it, delete some tracks by highlighting and punching del button. Then I can raise the volume and it sounds better over the decimal level on Mediacoder. I use it for every podcast. I don't know how to override the internal vorbis encoder, only Aotuv b5 of 10/2006.

"used for years...continues to get better" full set of tools and filters; newer versions are easier to navigate; simple and clear interface; complete capabilities for editing files seems a little slow when it rips files (but I have an older computer too) Highly recommended

Easy to Use Multiple File Type Creation Pro Quality (As Far as I Can Tell) One-Time License Purchase Entitles You to Eternal Free Upgrades None that I've found. As far as I can tell GoldWave is professional quality. I tried MANY sound editing apps (free and purcahse (trial only - I didn't actually purchase them)) and none of them compare to GoldWave. I mainly wanted an app that would edit MP3s so I could make ringtones for my Razr and to edit songs for movies (amateur - I'm not a video pro) I make and I landed on GoldWave. I paid for it and haven't regretted it. Buy this app - you won't be sorry.

- Manipulate your sounds in some pretty useful, extraordinary and professional sounding ways - The whole program is highly customisable in appearance and functionality. - Monitor any selected input on screen - Wide range of plugins to add to it - You have to pay for it I've been using the program on and off for a great number of years now and I just can't get away from it. In an attempt to keep some money in my pocket I usually look for only free software. So after having to part with GoldWave because my trial has run out on every computer I own, I tried Audacity, Audacity is an excellent piece of software and really is useful for more than just simple audio editing, but it still misses plugins like "Time Warp" which has the ability of changing the tempo of the audio without the pitch without any gaps, or funny digital sounding background noises, it just sounds exactly like they've slowed the track down to your chosen tempo. Even features such as the EQ are enhanced in GoldWave by the pre-sets. Usually presets are pretty useless, most of them either showing off the wonderful but pointless things the plugin etc can do or just really basic things that seem hardly worth the pre-set. Instead common uses of each plugin have their own pre-set. Each plugin also allows you to preview the audio with the effect running in real time, this is a great time saver, while many programs do have an Undo function, having to apply an effect to a whole piece of audio is often a time waster anyway, especially if you computers getting old. However if you then don't like what you hear you have to Undo everything you've been waiting for. Some other audio editors have the preview function, but they will often process a 10 second (for example) clip of the audio, and play this, which is not helpful if you're trying to introduce a new sound or piece of audio in a slow and smooth fashion. A full 'Control' floating window is provided in GoldWave, which provides 'Transport' features as well as t

relatively intuitive controls. Easy to understand help sections. possibly a little too many options but good well be my inexperience. Too early for an in depth assessment I'm just so happy I could get a cd quality recording on voice and music backing track.

just about every control and ability you could ask for Can't think of any! I'm just an amateur, but whenever I have to extract pieces of audio out of a larger track, goldwave makes it a breeze.

This program has a very friendly graphical user interface I found it slow in doing its functions when I used this program i faced some problems in converting files in addition that it's so slowly while conversion so i found another software named (Audio Converter Extractor Max) on the following site http://zillaftp.com

Lots of useful sound editing tools, supports popular sound file formats, easy to use once you become familiar with the interface Not the most elegant interface -- lots of cryptic little graphic icons that require a mouse-over for explanation. I don't often need to edit sound files, but I've had Goldwave for years and always return to it when an editing situation arises. I've often used it for combining mp3s into single album-side length files, and breaking up and trimming longer files. Today I was doing a voice-over for a Powerpoint presentation, and determined the only way to do a decent job was to dig out Goldwave. I was happy to see that an upgrade was available that was a little more WIndows 7-friendly. The trimming, and noise-reduction capabilities really improved my very amateur voice recordings. I know the programs has many more capabilities that I don't use or understand, but I'm always able to do my simple edits in a snap.
