If it was spyware, spyware program wold catch it.. If it was a backdoor your AV wold catch it.... Nothing wrong.... Good app and light

So basically all of those dumb people below who say it's a spy app or something right now hate THE CREATOR OF BITTORRENT as well? He's the one who bought the program from the original author, what's the big deal about it? Just download less s***ty porn and pirated software and you will have nothing to worry about (which is still not true, uTorrent DOES NOT report or 'scan' anything at all on your PC). Haha, how odd. uTorrent 1.8 is awesome.

hi the client is the best around no doubt but. i'm using utorrent and also peer guardian. for a strange reason utorrent always try to reach 72.20.34.145 port 6881 but peerguardian blocks it. strange because i disabled the update check. i also disabled the option to send anonimous version number etc... i thought it might be the search engine reference to bittorent but its not. somebody had idea?

Well I don't believe its spyware and I absolutely accept its the best, lightest and most feature rich (that is features you want - unlike the outrageous Vuze/Azureus) BUT I'm still worried. I tried BitTorrent just to try it out and, guess what IT IS uTorrent - rebadged. And it turns out BitTorrent bought uTorrent. That alone shouldn't make me worry - but I've just got a niggling feeling. Turned off updates to my current uTorrent - it works just fine!

Whenever I get a lot of emails on one subject, it inevitably means something surprisingly great or incredibly, tragically awful has happened. So when emails regarding a Donnie Darko sequel started rushing in, I assumed it was the prior: eager fans of the cult film alerting me to how excited I should be that Richard Kelly was returning to his single hit rather than attempting further Southland Tales. But as I looked closer at the emails, a sadder, angrier tone emerged. The subject wasn't "Donnie Darko 2!!!!", it was "Donnie Darko 2????" Another read, "Positive outcome unlikely." What the hey? If college taught me anything, it's that everyone but me in college loved Donnie Darko, or at least pretended to so they wouldn't be accused of "not getting it." Surely there must be a reason for this sudden backlash against a sequel. Hmm, let's take a look. It's called S. Darko, and it's about Donnie's sister. That makes sense, given that Donnie dies. They got the same actress to return to the role--always a good sign. Should be fine as long as they get a strong supporting cast like... a guy from Gossip Girl, someone from Step Up 2 the Streets, and the tall-haired fellow from Dragonball? All right, I guess that works, if Richard Kelly thinks he can pull it off with... Oh, Kelly isn't involved in any capacity? Well, so long as someone else with a similarly unique vision takes over, like... Chris Fisher, director of Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders and an episode of NBC's Chuck? OK. This is doomed.

I have been a long time user and fan of µTorrent, regularly updating to the latest beta. Recently my ISP suspended my account because they were (supposedly) contacted by Paramount Pictures for a breach of copyright after I downloaded a copy of Beowulf. Was I unlucky to get caught? Are the claims of µTorrent containing spyware founded? Switched to Halite now and crossing my fingers..

I personally use Azureus, but utorrent would be my second choice. Each update for utorrent brings tons of fixes and upgrades, I would recommend this for people who want a fast small and simple torrent client. But if you want something that you have more control over that takes a little to set up properly then I would recommend Azureus. @PAULO27 Dude STFU! None of your posts make any sense at ALL! Just get off the internet for ever. Stop posting here.

utorrent is my torrent program of choice. everything else includes too many features that i don't use or have much use for or slow my system down because of all its uses. i among several thousands of others refused to use utorrent when it was bought out by bittorrent. i did not upgrade for the reasons given here, that they could now track users better because they now had direct access to the code. and so i stayed with the 1.6 beta. i always read the reviews here to see what was going on with it, but i never upgraded. some time later, my dad got into torrents, so i directed him to utorrent. as a test case, i had him get the latest version at the time, 1.7x beta. and guess what, nothing happened. no c&d letters, no messages from our isp, nothing. i didn't upgrade then. it was only after reading more reviews on the 1.8 version that i finally decided to upgrade. other than the install package (that i downloaded from utorrent's website) that i did not like, and the overall revised look that i don't like, i don't see any real difference between what i was using and what i have now. back then i found that there was nothing wrong with it and it did as advertised. i still find that still applies. it's still a 5 star program. i do still have 1.6.1 beta, and i'm probably always going to use that until there is some technical reason why i can't because i find that sometimes it works better than the current version and i like the look of it.

Hadding dificulty with uTorrent cause it was constancily losing contact with the private tracker (green turns into red), after doiing some googlehomework I found the solution. Put the maximum connections back to 50 , that is a good balance between stable contact with trackers and having enough sources. At first it was losing contact every few hours and that was not helping my ratio, no contact with tracker means no boost of ratio. Now it didn't happened once, only when the tracker stopped supporting the specific torrent! Keep in mind that private trackers more and more stopped supporting uTorrent lower then 1.77 and advices you to use Azureus, but uTorrent works fine for me now. Also for all bittorrentappz counts that you have to be aware not to use the blocked ports and use a port that is OPEN and PERMITTED to be connectable with the private tracker! (allways read the rules of your private tracker forum)

I love this program. Its size is amazing considering all its options. I have one small remark. I use WindowBlinds and for some reason the font become bold. it only happens with uTorrent.
