Microsoft Silverlight (formerly WPF/E) is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications (RIAs) for the Web. It is intended for developers and designers interested in learning more about how to build experiences with Microsoft Silverlight.

Pretty good. Its a lot more stable than flash. Less prone to attacks. HTML5 is quickly replacing flash, so i guess Microsoft wants to take its place. It has good multi platform support for macs and Linux. Im using the new dev preview, which is faster than this 1. I wish they update this soon. Overall good. I laugh it these ppl saying flash is ok. They have obviously never used flash on macs and linux. Being a windows user, those probs dont affect me but still, flash is getting worse. Silverlight has lots of potential. This vershion kinda sucks, but the beta siverlight 4 is really good.

Dear Silverlight, please die! I hate this stupid framework. It's a resource hog/monster. It is NOT cross platform. Because the API's and other stuff it uses are heavily patent-encumber t. Also it's MS product, with all the typical stuff: slow+bloated+lock-in-to-other MS-products. Everybody, if you feel frustrated blog about Silverlights deficiencies. It deserves it. Because it's everybody's business. (MS slogan)

Microsoft Silverlight is a web application framework that provides functionalities similar to those in Adobe Flash integrating multimedia, graphics, animations and interactivity into a single runtime environment. It is necessary to watch some videos. I have no cons about Silverlight.

none, none, and absolutely none, unless you like your privacy invaded. reports to microsoft NO MATTER WHAT no matter what you do within windows to NOT have reports and data sent to microsoft, this little program will not install unless you agree to have it send info about your windows and computer (and whatever other data they take without your knowledge). i guess you're not allowed to watch certain flash videos (IE: olympics and netflix) without big brother watching you. in my eyes this is illegal and is a form of spyware/malware.

Like AlphaBetaGamma said, this link still downloads the old version, so someone's screwed up somewhere. Clicking on the link to the Silverlight page, then the download link, gets the stated version.

This is still the 4.0.50524 version.
