Paint.NET 3.5.5

Paint.NET by Paint.NET Team Screenshot Paint.NET Screenshot

Paint.NET is image and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. It started development as an undergraduate college senior design project mentored by Microsoft, and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple tool for photo and image editing. The programming language used to create Paint.NET is C#, with a small amount of C++ for installation and shell-integration related functionality.Paint.NET is freeware, but the team is accepting donations here.

easy, does so much more than paint since recent upgrade can't find version for XP grrrr Old puter died with older version on it, no problem will just download again - oops, seems they just upgraded and older versions don't seem to be available. Still have XP, do I have to get Windows 7 now to use my favorite app?

Very intuitive for me. Found it similar to Photoshop but not as complicated. Free. The autolevel function is poor (Photoshop's is much better). This is the best free program I have found for basic editing (have tried about 10 others).

It does everything I need, easily and effectively. And it's free! It's not got all the features of, say, photoshop. Easy to use, cost effective, and does everything I need.

Free, very fast, and load with photo editing features. None as far as I am concerned. More than powerful enough for the average-to-moderate user. If you would like a free and very easy program with a good interface to fix and modify your ever growing collection of digital pictures this is it. It has many of the features of adobe photoshop but is free period. I use this for my pictures that I promote myself with as I am in a band also. Its that good of a photo software.

It's very easy to use, with almost no prep. Even a novice with graphics programs like me can jump right in and make it do what is required. Perfect for my needs. I would have liked a basic overlay feature, but I can work around that. The proliferation of little work boxes is annoying. For ease of use and orverall functionality, this program rates a huge thumbs up in my book, especially without a price tag attached. Given those conditions I can certainly overlook the few minor inconveniences I encountered, as opposed to the major problems my previous programs posed on my Windows 7 machine. It gets my job done quickly and efficiently, and even remids me when I've forgotten to save one of my images. I can't lose!

Loads faster than photoshop. Has all the tools frequently use to manipulate images. At start, it always opens an empty canvas, and can't figure out how to disable this. A free, easy to use image editing software.

Excellent visual aesthetics and user intuitive GUI. I am glad there are people out there like these guys who put excellence in the market because there are some giants holding the market hostage. It was hard to remove microsoft paint and replace it with Paint.net. Great program and I recommend it to my multimedia guru colleagues from college. I also linked it and many other design goodies of the same caliber for my web tech's and graphics designer friends to download. Outstanding goodies from the Paint.net Team.Five stars!

rich in settings. Powerful compared to classic MS Paint why is is so slow ? It offers much as other free tool - IrfanView, but Irfan is no more free for commercial use. Sad but true. Paint.net is cool little tool, but far too slow compared to IrfanView.
