CCleaner 2.29.1111

CCleaner by Piriform Ltd. Screenshot CCleaner Screenshot

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware.

Great program, have had no problems with registry cleaner, garbage files are removed without any consequences (thus far), works very well!

This is the only safe cleaner I have found for x64 systems (both Vista and Win7). I have used other highly-regarded cleaners over many years, and they are now safe enough for WinXP (32-bit), but the 64-bit systems open up a new can of worms, and the others still do not cope with them very well. Bottom line is that I use CCleaner only in Win7 64-bit, and do not regret it. The newest version 2.29.1111 is fine; I use the Slim version for simplest operation.

I don't deserve this.

This program is excellent. It just plain works to cleanup temporary files and cookies. You can configure it to automatically run once at startup, which I do, but the default has this feature disabled.

So your posting a link to a pay $23.69 for the version of the software your spamming and ccleaner is free. TROLL!!!!!

I agree. CCleaner is such a great program and I am so thankful every time I use it that it is freeware. The aforementioned $23 program can't do a better job and is like so many others that cram other functions in and are never used.

A must have.. But I wish the developer would make a section for (Wipe empty space) and not keep it as another hidden feature.

Rated 50/50 by TC17 at Nov 30, 2009

Its free, works great, and gets updated often. Something the pay versions never do.

Yep!

Need to refine my previous post. Installing and having/using CCleaner won't slow your machine, as it is not a heavy program and won't change or take control over important windows settings. Certainly deleting some files might have systemwide effect even if they are safe to delete and will be re-created.

Thumbnail cleaning almost certainly will slow down your machine. It must rebuild the cache of icon images used by Windows, which takes time after cleaning.

Rated 40/50 by anomoly at Oct 26, 2009

Yeah but it's a cleaner remember?

Rated 40/50 by carlvui at Oct 20, 2009

Very user-friendly, won't slow your machine. Never had any problem with it. No cons for the moment

I use 3 different aps to do what ccleaner does. Bleachbit http://sourceforge.net/projects/bleachbit/files/ RegistryLife http://www.chemtable.com/RegistryLife.htm & revo uninstaller. More thorough and all portable

No need to rehash, but this app is the best of it's league.
