IT'S FREE? I mean what are your expectations anyway? Plug and play instant audio engineer? This is absolutely a fine audio edit package, if you have bothered to learn at least some basics in digital audio. I recommend you educate yourself first, the new Adobe (old Cooledit), Soundforge, etc... what do those cost? Should you have the same expectations? Hardly. But in certain aspects I say you can because the quality in some applications is very comparable. I consider Wavosaur to be a work in progress, things will change and there is open dialog for suggested improvements. I think this is superior to Audacity for what I do however I am still comfortable with Audacity and that makes me human. The quality I receive from my projects needs no improvements. There are features that I would like to see in the future and I agree with many people who post such suggestions. I am an expert, I am a Certified Master Audio Technician, I am not in the recording field or any engineering field however. I troubleshoot and repair audio equipment to the board or component level. I have highly trained ears and I know and undestand waveforms. ESO? Equipment Superior to Operator is the number one error in every single field of electronic ware including software. If more people would take the time to read, learn, and understand ESO wouldn't exist....It's unfair to evaluate a product when the product is superior to it'soperator and these reviews hang around this site like flies on roadkill... It is so silly to read so many reviews posted by people who can't even manage to run an executable program, realize that LAME is a necessity to add, or even have the slightest idea of codecs or digital audio knowledge ...or even find the authors homepage for that matter...yet they post reviews anyway about a program because they can't load it or get it to run, or record something in error and blame it on this software and dish it's rating... I'm not an engineer of any kind, not even so much related to

its a great program i was looking for a program that could extract singin from the songs and keep the background music intact there are other programs that the do same but this program is number one so far its not the greatest when estracting the audio from the background music i havnt found one prorgram that does excellent job just yet but this one here is so far the best at what it does. in certain songs you will here singing in the background when you use this option but other songs which i think it works best with rock and maybe alternaitve music havnt tried rap, & r&b yet all i get is the backgraound music and no singin what so ever could have an option to extract just the singers voice only maybe in the next version they might

Wow. Wavesaur i the best freeware sound editing tool I've ever used. Not only for basic editing but also for ambitious task with VST plugin support. Moreover this feels like i great piece of code with its small size, its great speed and stability. The developers website gives al lot of transparent information and a great list of free VST plugins. So try i out. This one is definitely worth a look. - Everything what audacity ever wanted to be but has never reached in a satisfying way.

It is the best free audio editing program at the moment and it is very small in size. You can run it without installation and it is capable of doing things like a professional editor. I do not buy soundforge for my samples. I use wavosaur. It start very fast and you can edit fast and you can add vst or propritary FX to your samples.

"plain and simple, but useful" I love the oscilloscope! Also the filters (especially vocals reducer) (EQ too,)work very well and the visual graphs available can lend a few clues if you are trying to tweak a certain wav file. So if you are into kareoke( I'm not) or a DJ (not that either) this might be all you need. Useful for mixing, fades, general simple editing. Allows you to normalize. Good for simple tracks and simple needs. If you are serious about editing some recordings and mixdowns of original material this program is just too basic. Couldn't get it to split Left and Right tracks. Also you have to do a lot of clicking/trial & error to get the filters, normilaztion etc just right. If you have VST somewhere else on your system you will have effects but if not you will wish you had some reverb, compression etc. But for free, I am going to keep it.

This is a very useful tool for audio files. I find it to be the best free one available, for it's feature set & ease of use.

"I downloaded this looking for a vocal remover." ABSOLUTELY Nothing. Absolutely everything. It didn't remove the vocals. It didn't even try. I looked everywhere in this program for a way to actually remove the vocals. It didn't change the track in the slightest. Useless!

"Great audio editor." No install (just unzip and run it). Took me less than 10 minutes to cut apart and splice together pieces of MP3 and WAV files to make my own custom ringtones. Now I'll start monkeying around with effects to see what else I can do. Its free!!! Don't know of anything yet. Great free audio editor. Havent tried using effects yet. Audacity is also free but I wanted a smaller software app. All other ringtone software was not free, so this was a great find.

"Worked great for what I needed!" I found it very easy to use for making my own ringtones. Lot's more capability than I can understand.

"Wavosaur rocks!" The VU meter, the built-in effects, the VST Rack capability. What can I say, I love it! The 3D Spectral Analysis window could use a little work (like freq & amplitude lines), but that's just icing. For all your wavefile needs, get it. It rocks!
